Event Wrap Up

Over 150 local folks came out to support the top video finalists in our first annual Rincon Classic Video Contest held on Thursday January 3rd. Finalists, family, friends, and surf movie aficionados filled the outdoor chill area behind the Channel Islands Surfboards retail shop in the funk zone of downtown Santa Barbara. Mellow surf tunes filled the air thanks to talented surfer and musician Travers Adler while guests stayed warm with coffee and hot appetizers complements of Mad Dogs and Hot Spots.

The top five videos were premiered with hoots and hollers from the excited crowd to see local surfers shredding Rincon, the “Queen Of The Coast”. 5th place went to talented local water photographer and videographer Branden Aroyan for his film “The Cove”. Michael Kew slid into 4th place with a few extra votes on his film “Bro”, both finalist went home with a jam packed prize bag full of Rincon Classic goodies. 3rd place finalist, Demi Boelsterli excited the audience with her fast paced cuts and punk rock music. She took away a huge prize bag, Arbor Skateboard and $100 cash.

Dave Schauber came in a close 2nd place with his crowd pleaser titled “Duck Man” featuring Dane Reynolds and Kelly Slater among other local riders. Dave went home with a prize bag, Quiksilver Wetsuit, and $150 cash. Finally our 1st place video went to Sean Lesh and his video titled “Rincon”. Lesh provided an original video with a fun story featuring local shaper legend Matt Moore. Sean won a prize bag, custom Channel Islands Surfboard, and $300 cash! Thanks to everyone who participated and came out to support these local artists!
